 On
July 10 of 2003, 21 riders plunged to their death in a KMB bus. About
Oct 18, another bus accident resulted in 30+ riders injured.
One year after the death plunge, 2 reports have been produced and the
mandatory wearing of seat belts for minibus riders will be imposed by
the government. (commencing Aug 2004) For us bus riders, we have not noticed
any difference.
Our recommendations:
- Seat belt
- Speedometer
- Regulate rest period of drivers between rides
- Safer highway
- Study accidents to uncover the systemic causes to the problems
